HISTORY

TOYOTA launched it program's of Formula 1 in 1999, after multiple success in rally, endurance (24 hours of Mans France) and as a CART (the United States). TOYOTA thus engages in most competing and most prestigious of the sports car.

  • TF 101 :

The first formula Toyota F1, the TF101, was born in March 2001. The car laboratory foamed 11 circuits in the year, distributed on three continents, with the hands of its two pilots, Mika Salo and Allan McNish.

Objective : To garner experiment and kilometers before launching out in the great bath of the competition.

  • TF 102 :

The official team becomes PANASONIC TOYOTA RACING, and engages its first F1 of race (the TF102) at the end of 2001. The first year of participation in the championship of the world of Formula 1 is carrying hope.
The introduction is very good, the point of the 6th place taken down by Mika Salo, at the time of the inaugural sleeve of 2002, to organize on the circuit of Melbourne (Australia), which is also the first GP of Toyota! The Finn adds a unit with his meter in Brazil. Toyota equips its F1 project with solids foundations.

  • TF 103 :

Its two new pilots, Olivier Panis and Cristiano da Matta (champion in title of champ Car) bring back 16 points at the end of season and offers 8th to the championship of the world manufacturer 2003. Their table of hunting is supplemented by some high feats of arms: One 3rd place in qualification in the USA and Japan, and 17 turns of race at the head in Great Britain.

  • TF 104 :

2004 were mitigated at the statistical level, and before a whole year of transition to reinforce the technical department of the stable, with the arrival of Mike Gascoyne. Toyota adds up 9 points and one 5th place for better result, signed Olivier Panis, at the time of his 150th GP. Despite everything the team will finish 8th with the championship of the world manufacturer 2004 as in 2003.
